Be empowered, a handstand is within reach! Join All That Matters teacher, Tara Beaulieu, for this step by step approach to handstands that supports you to develop a courageous and playful attitude towards going upside down.
During this workshop you can expect to:
Review the anatomy of the shoulder girdle and learn its role in creating stability in any posture that bears weight on the hands.
Explore “the core” and practice mula bandha (root lock or hold) to gain understanding of how engagement of these deep muscles helps maintain balance and alignment when inverting.
Practice simple warm ups and stretches to condition and strengthen the wrists and hands.
Learn techniques, tips and drills, working individually and in pairs, to get plenty of practice preparing the body to safely invert and stand on the hands.
Develop foundational skills that will not only keep you safe in your inversions, but also help transform your daily practice as you learn to use whole muscle groups together to create stability in the joints. Leave this workshop feeling more confident in the body’s ability to create structure and support; building a stronger practice that can continue to grow for years to come. Get upside down and experience the world from a different point of view!
All levels welcome. Bring your yoga mat and a desire to learn!
