Jenn Thomas

Jenn Thomas has been practicing and studying yoga for over 20 years. She received her 200-hour certification with Tom Gillette, became a leader for Off the Mat/Into the World with Seane Corn, and is currently engaged in a 500-hour training with Sarah Powers' Insight Yoga Institute, a graduate-level training with renowned western masters. Jenn is also a longtime artist and teacher (painting and glass), a two-time small business owner, and a life coach. She is developing and deepening practices that integrate yoga, Buddhism, and spiritual psychology.

In yoga class, Jenn encourages a strong awareness of the flow of breath and movement, as well as deep attention to the body and its individual alignments. Practice ignites prana, balances yin and yang energies, and brings forth the stillness and joy within. Jenn's way of weaving language and poetry into the fabric of each class draws us into the heart of who we truly are and the beauty of being alive - on and off the mat.

Jenn Thomas instructs the following:
  • Yin Yoga
  • This is one of our Focused classes.

Yin Yoga poses are performed seated or lying down using props and slow transitional movements that massage and lubricate the body’s sheath of connective tissue as well as the mind’s power of observation. Sustaining each pose for a period of time pairs intentional stillness with steady compression to signal a “rest and restore” mode for the central nervous system thus promoting digestion, muscle repair and organ detoxification.

  • Yin Yoga and Meditation Half-day Retreat

  • Come befriend your body, heart, and mind. Explore mindfulness meditation and yin yoga, and discover the richness in the quiet, still attention you cultivate through both movement and stationary practices. Whether you are new to yoga or meditation or a long-time practitioner, this half day retreat is for you. Your morning of self-care is designed to recalibrate and balance wayward energies, and ground yourself in your inner resources.

  • Immersion Flow

  • This is one of our Flow classes.

In this Vinyasa-style class, students explore their personal and physical edge—as well as self-awareness and intention—by cultivating core stability through complex poses (such as inversions and balancing postures) in sequences that invite precision and mindfulness. Yogis stretch and strengthen muscles while energizing the body and stimulating the mind.

  • Stretch + Breathe
  • This is one of our Foundations classes.

This gentle class helps yogis release tension and unwind. Welcoming all levels, Stretch + Breathe pairs gentle, lengthening movements with breath work to create a balanced experience of groundedness, fluidity, and ease—both physically and energetically.

  • Heated Immersion Flow

  • This is one of our Flow classes.

In this Vinyasa-style class, students explore their personal and physical edge—as well as self-awareness and intention—by cultivating core stability through complex poses (such as inversions and balancing postures) in sequences that invite precision and mindfulness. Yogis stretch and strengthen muscles while energizing the body and stimulating the mind.

This class is done in a heated room. The heat encourages greater flexibility and detoxification. Yoga experience is necessary and students are asked to bring a towel, mat and water.

  • Gazing at the Inner Sky : A New Year’s Yin Journey

  • The annual moment when the old year meets the new is different to each one of us. Some are shedding old stuff and reveling in the recalibration and new possibilities, while others fear the letting go process or feel stuck on the edge. Where are you in this mix?

Join All That Matters teacher Jenn Thomas for this special New Year’s Eve afternoon of heart opening contemplative practice. The launchpad is Yin yoga: seated and walking meditations partnered with journaling and partner/group dialogue intended to shine love and light from our hearts while we step into the New Year.

More about Yin Yoga: The connective tissue of the body does far more than just hold us together. It is a matrix, an inter connected web of the body/mind rife with energy, healing, history and more. We physically target the often neglected connective elements, considered the yin tissues of the body-ligaments, tendons, fascia, bone, along with the joint spaces themselves- to encourage the deeper and natural healing/opening capacity of that system. The practice of Yin yoga includes shapes that are held for an extended time in a relaxed yet stimulating way, followed by quiet rebound space for integration, both expressions keeping one attuned to an expansive aliveness and offering a rich experience of present moment awareness. The nectar is the sense of freedom that may be received in one or all three levels of body/heart/mind, both in and beyond the practice.
