Meet Maureen Broden,
Strong, Joyful, and Smiling Yogi
I am pleased to introduce you to Maureen Brodin, our March 2014 Yogi of the Month. Maureen, now a regular here at All That Matters, was brand new to yoga when she signed up for the 40 Days program last fall. She is warm and loving, a smiling presence at the front desk and a welcome member of the yoga classes she now attends several times per week. We are thrilled to be able to witness her personal transformation through participation in 40 days and her continued dedication to her practice. What attracted you to yoga? Why did you start?
I simply wanted to feel good, to feel better. I wanted to stand taller, to breathe deeper, to feel stronger. I knew I needed change– Yoga began the journey.
What is your favorite type or style of yoga and why?
Vinyasa; the movement with breath reminds me of a dance and brings me joy.
What keeps you doing yoga?
It feels good! Each class I discover something new about myself.
What is your favorite yoga pose and why?
Ardha Chandrasana– Half Moon Pose. I feel like I am flying and it makes me smile.
What other activities do you enjoy?
I love to hike with my husband and four year old. I love the wonder in her eyes as she
Favorite place to be:
The beach; the waves, the sand, the sun… To dive into the ocean on a hot summer day!
What do you like best about All That Matters?
I love love love the All That Matters staff. I always feel welcomed and encouraged. The teachers provide a safe environment to explore and go deeper.
Advice to beginners?
Keep asking questions and put away the ego.
