What attracted you to yoga? Why did you start?
A friend asked me to try yoga with her back in 1995. So I thought I'd try it and got hooked!
What is your favorite type or style and why?
That's tough. I like Vinyasa and practice that most regularly but there is nothing like a Yin or Svaroopa class when you just need to "stretch and breathe."
What is your favorite yoga pose and why?
Hero pose. I like to sit up with a nice long spine and this pose helps to center me.
What keeps you practicing yoga?
The way I feel before, during and after it. We are so lucky to have All That Matters, especially those of us, like me, who aren't disciplined enough to practice regularly without a class.
What other activities do you enjoy?
I walk every day. I love to read and to garden when the weather cooperates. I also like to knit and cook.
An inspiring book or movie you recommend?
The Gift of Rain by Tan Twan Eng. Set in Burma just before, during, and after WWII.
Sweet - anything with lemons; Savory - anything Thai or Indian; Salty - roasted nuts.
Favorite place to be and why?
The beach, summer or winter, but especially summer. It's relaxing and refreshing and the one place I can just do nothing.
Any advice to beginners?
Relax, and open your eyes once in a while. Laugh!
What do you like most about All That Matters?
The fact that it's close to my home. The fact that everyone here is welcoming and friendly, and the wide variety of classes and services offered.
Any other words of wisdom?
Try a class and/or teacher that you've never tried before. You might be surprised.
