A message from Joan Dwyer

Happy New Year!

As we embark on a new year, I find my heart full of awe and appreciation for all that goes on under the roofs at All That Matters. Each day our team of 80+ teachers and staff members work with great care - greeting, solving, organizing, teaching, healing, learning, inspiring, holding space, supporting - and serving hundreds of community members who walk through our doors.

And together all of us - students, teachers, and clients - courageously challenge ourselves and each other to stay awake, be vital, and do good.

It is said that January is a dreaming month, a month of transition and reflection. It gets its name from a two-headed Roman god, Janus, with one head looking back at the past and the other looking toward the future.

We have found that one potent way to transition from 2016 to 2017 is to ask yourself:

What do I want less of? What do I want more of?

Then, take a moment to write it down or type it up because there seems to be some powerful magic in putting desires into words. And couldn't we all use a bit of magic?!

With open-hearted thanks for the wisdom and science of yoga, and for the community where we practice, I wish you peace, joy and vitality in 2017.
