108 Sun Salutations with Coral Brown Next held on Sun, Dec 21, 2014 at 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun Dec 21, 2014 - Sun Dec 21, 2014

Join All That Matters and Coral Brown to welcome in Winter and the returning of the light!  Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate Winter Solstice by offering 108 Sun Salutations to the high noon sun on the shortest day of the year.

108, a sacred number for many spiritual and yogic traditions, is most popularly known as being associated with mantra and praying with mala beads. It has been said that 108 is twelve times the number 9, which is the number of vinyasas (movements linked to breath) in a Sun Salutation.

Reach your arms to the sky as you stretch your limits in this ritual to welcome the Winter Season. Gather with others and set your intentions for abundance, peace, joy, happiness, and more as you open up to invite the light in during this next cycle Mother Earth has to offer.

All welcome.

What participants have said about this workshop:

"The real journey to happiness is the journey inward. Yoga sheds a light by proposing that all the desires and versions that fuel stress are actually substitutes for the real journey to happiness which is the journey inward. From this perspective, all our attempts to find fulfillment out in the world are at best partial because we are looking in the wrong place." -Joseph LePage, Creator of Integrative Yoga Therapy

"40 Days of Yoga came at a perfect time in my life- when I was ready to change old patterns and embark on healthy ones. I had no idea how life changing the whole program would be. This enrollment runs from Thu Jan 29, 2015 - Thu Mar 5, 2015

“Your intuition always whispers. It rarely shouts. So, you have to be ready to hear what whispers in your ear.”
– Steven Spielberg

Join experienced guides Joan Dwyer and Val Littlefield, along with a small community of women, to activate your body-mind-spirit connection and access the truth inside. Delving deeply each week into activities that include guided meditation, breath work, visioning, coaching/group dialog, journaling and art, you will:

• Learn ancient, scientifically proven processes to stay in the moment and reconnect with your own intuition.
• Experience how curiosity not only wards off fear, perfectionism, exhaustion and boredom, but also keeps you aligned with your life path.
• Discover the life that is beckoning you.

This enrollment runs from Fri Jan 30, 2015 - Fri Jan 30, 2015

Relax and Restore: Slow Yoga and Qigong with Ken Nelson Next held on Sat, Feb 14, 2015 at 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sat Feb 14, 2015 - Sat Feb 14, 2015

Relaxation happens naturally when you stop creating tension. Refresh yourself with gentle, easy-to-learn practices that create wellbeing and restore wholeness.

Discover the wisdom of stillness with restorative yoga and yoga nidra (guided deep relaxation). These simple, passive floor postures help to relieve chronic pain, awaken insight, and stimulate life-giving forces for health and healing. Both yoga and qigong nurture positive change through intentional breathing, guided imagery, and attention training.

Qigong is a graceful Chinese practice (similar to Tai Chi/Taiji) that helps you breathe and move with more freedom and less effort. Learn to align your spine with gravity to improve posture, balance, agility and strength. Stand on your own two feet, enhance personal integrity, and ripen into a life worth living.

These evidence-based practices can help you
• Calm the nervous system and release habitual holding
• Increase mind-body flexibility and break free of self-limiting beliefs
• Increase energy and enhance your mood
• Feel more grounded, trusting, intuitive, and creative.

Everybody needs rest but in stressful times we need r-e-s-t-o-r-a-t-i-o-n. When your life is too full, slow down, care for yourself, and reflect on your purpose and path.

The Way of the Shaman: Shamanic Journeying, Power, and Healing with Nan Moss Next held on Sat, Feb 28, 2015 at 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sat Feb 28, 2015 - Sun Mar 1, 2015

During this experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism – the universal and near-universal basic methods of the shaman to enter non-ordinary reality for problem solving, wellbeing, and healing. Particular emphasis is put on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream.

Participants are initiated into shamanic journeying, aided by drumming and movement techniques for experiencing the shamanic state of consciousness and for awakening dormant spiritual abilities and connections with Nature. Practice includes comparisons by participants of their discoveries in shamanic journeys as well as work on personal problem solving. They are also provided with methods for journeying to discover and study with their own individual spiritual teachers in non-ordinary reality, a classic step in shamanic practice. Participants learn how the journey is utilized to restore spiritual power and health, and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others, and the Planet.

Please bring a rattle or a drum if you have one. Wear comfortable clothing, warm socks, and bring a bandanna, a rough-surfaced rock approximately the size of a grapefruit, and a pen and notebook to record your journeys.

Originated by Michael Harner, this is the basic workshop of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and is the prerequisite for all Foundation workshops and training courses.

Click here to enjoy an article on shamanism written by Nan Moss and David Corbin.

What participants have said about this workshop:
“The class was well organized and full of helpful techniques.  Powerful tools were presented in a way that was inspiring to a beginner.”

This enrollment runs from Thu Mar 12, 2015 - Thu Mar 12, 2015

“All yoga practices are designed to lead one to an experience of being infinite, eternal, and whole. An EXPERIENCE of being infinite, eternal and whole is beyond the belief that you are infinite, eternal, and whole. The mind cannot get there, so at some point you must leap off the mind experience into another realm” – Devarshi Steven Hartman. Excerpt from The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita.

Being in charge of our attention is not as hard as we have made it, as boring as we have imagined, or as complicated as we’ve been told. It is natural. It waits for us to rest in it. This ability to truly be present, to experience the outrageous moment fully, to become and behold, is at the heart of ALL yoga practice and your own state of union/yoga. Join senior teacher Devarshi Steven Hartman, E-RYT, Co-Founder of Pranotthan Yoga School to explore and experience various forms of meditation and presence. Walk away with simple practices that light your path to stillness, restoration and focus.

Yin Yoga Training with Jenn Thomas Next held on Thu, Mar 26, 2015 at 4:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Thu Mar 26, 2015 - Thu Mar 26, 2015

Discover the rich potential that Yin Yoga can offer to your personal teaching and practice! Join Jenn Thomas, All That Matters Yin Yoga and Meditation teacher, and Dr. Tracey Sondik, Clinical psychologist, 500-E-RYT Yoga Instructor at Samadhi Yoga Studio in Manchester, CT and teacher for the Center for Integrative Yoga Studies, for this 2-part extended weekend immersion program designed for yoga teachers, mental health professionals, and serious students. Gain insight into the ways of quiet surrender and learn how seeing things as they are acts as a gateway to the peace you and your students/clients long to experience.

Yin Yoga invites you to meet yourself fully, in a direct way, infused with kindness and experienced through the body. This practice, which takes place primarily through long held floor postures, transforms your physical practice and develops concentration, mindful awareness, and ease. When coupled with a blend of ancient wisdom teachings (tantric philosophy and buddha dharma) and western psychology, it also revolutionizes personal growth.

Training Objectives:
This Yin Yoga training, occurring over 2 extended weekends, sheds light on the quieter side of yoga that is very often eclipsed by the frenetic pace of life and the more yang versions of yoga currently in demand. In both sessions learn how to slow way down through Yin Yoga and meditation practice, be immersed in the body, and have time to feel into the core channels of your being. Explore your subtle nature emerging as you gain a deeper understanding of your mind, your inner emotional world, and the blockages and barriers that keep you from living a more authentic life.

Yin Yoga practice, meditation instruction and practice, presentation/lecture, demonstrations, dyad work, and group dialogue/discussion together provide a broad container and give space to dive deep.

Part I: Foundations (Mar 26-30)
The primary focus of this session is to lay the groundwork. Learn the methods which include breath work, anatomy, physical and energetic alignments, basic meridian and five element theory, and mind training. Explore the inner voice as the practitioner and discover the keys to designing classes and holding space as a teacher/clinician.

Part II: Integration (Apr 23-27)
The intention of this session is to wade into the river of ancient wisdom teachings (Tantric philosophy, Buddha dharma, Daoist teachings and more) and to find connection. In addition, explore how yin yoga can be used as a modality for healing psychological and psycho-spiritual wounds through yin poses, meditation, and interpersonal mindful communication. Dive deeper and examine the rich relationship and impact these teachings and tools can have in Yin Yoga. Revisiting the materials covered in Foundations and offering depth to your understanding of poses/sequences, meridian theory and organ health - along with a spiritual perspective - reveal the true connection and benefit of the physical, energetic and spiritual resonance. Develop your own practice and further enhance your personal growth and that of your students/clients.

Monthly Gong Bath with Stephanie Marisca Next held on Fri, Apr 17, 2015 at 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm
This enrollment runs from Fri Apr 17, 2015 - Fri Apr 17, 2015

Join us for this deep sound relaxation. Experience the vibrational healing of the bronze gong and Tibetan singing bowls.

You will lie down or sit comfortably and begin with mindful relaxed breathing holding a personal or group intention. Then, the gong playing begins. At first you hear soft gong sounds and as you listen carefully, you become aware of the many tones within one sound. The sounds become louder and louder, and wash over and around you creating waves of sound that carry you into the past, the future, and even to other worlds. Many people experience something noticeable during a meditative Gong Bath; it can range from feeling their bodies twitch (as the energy meridians are cleared and balanced), seeing amazing splashes of color behind their closed eyes, past life recollections in full detail, a feeling of lifting out of their bodies and watching from above, to simply a feeling of total peace and connectedness. Whatever your experience, it will be the perfect experience unique to you.

Join Stephanie Marisca, Cathy Cesario and visiting artists - for this monthly sound meditation circle, and leave feeling rested, relaxed and rejuvenated.

Some participants like to bring an extra yoga mat, blanket, or padding to supplement ATM mats and blankets.

Monthly Gong Bath with Stephanie Marisca Next held on Fri, May 29, 2015 at 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm
This enrollment runs from Fri May 29, 2015 - Fri May 29, 2015

Integrative Reflexology Certification Program Coming Fall 2015 with Elysia Bates Next held on Tue, Sep 1, 2015 at 4:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Tue Sep 1, 2015 - Tue Sep 1, 2015

Reflexology is a vibrant and growing healing modality within the field of bodywork. A centuries-old form of natural healing, foot reflexology utilizes a variety of hands-on techniques to stimulate and energize all the body systems while activating its healing powers. Every part of the body is connected to a reflex on the foot. By stimulating these reflex points we can help the body promote healing, reduce stress, open meridians, and release and eliminate toxins from the body. An excellent antidote to stress-related conditions, reflexology relaxes the body, restores balance, and serves as preventative medicine.

This 300-hour professional certification in the art, history, science, philosophy, and methodology of reflexology is based on an 10-week training, with anatomy and physiology in the morning session and hands-on training in the afternoon session. The curriculum includes:

•fundamental anatomy and physiology
•theory, practice, hands-on experience, and documentation
•standards and ethics
•boundaries and energy exchange
•approaches to different types of clients, e.g., Hospice vs back-pain client
•anatomy/kinesiology of the leg and foot
•practice giving both full 60-minute treatments and 15-min introductory session for health fairs, public events, and sampling
•business and marketing

In addition to classwork required for certification are 60 hours of general study, comprised of practice sessions on 60 different people; and 100 hours of in-depth study, comprised of 10 sessions each with 10 people. This in-depth study satisfies the hands-on research requirement for a written thesis focused on an area of the student’s interest, e.g., stress reduction, the spine, headaches. During the training, students complete written homework and quizzes, a practicum reflexology session on the instructor, and a final exam. Students also have the opportunity to work, supervised, for up to 6 hours in a clinical setting (in Connecticut hospitals the instructor is affiliated with Day Kimball).

Upon completion of all requirements, students are awarded certification. Over the last several years, Elysia Bates has certified many students who are successful practicing reflexologists today. Certificate-holding students are qualified to begin the process of national certification through ARCB or RCB. National certification is a post-graduate choice.

Reflexology is a powerful healing modality to add to any body worker’s existing tool kit. All are welcome: aspiring reflexologists, nurses, estheticians, healthcare practitioners, energy workers, and caregivers, massage therapists, and anyone looking to further their education.
For more information see www.reflexology-usa.org.

Tuition includes educational and hands-on manuals along with two books by Christine Issel: Eunice Ingham - A Biography and Reflexology: Art, Science, and History.

Note: The 300-hour certification program requires:

•180 hours – in class, including final practicum and exam
•60 hours – hands-on general study
•100 hours – hands-on in-depth study
•75 hours – research, written projects and thesis, prep work for client sessions

What past students have said about Elysia and this training:

"I highly recommend Elysia Bates' class to anyone who is serious about pursuing a career as a reflexology therapist. The curriculum is designed to focus on anatomy and physiology, while also allowing time for hands-on training and practical experience....A wonderful learning experience." - MM

"Elysia Bates is a passionate practitioner of integrative reflexology and an inspirational teacher. Her curriculum is intense and relevant, and her style of teaching adds clarity and meaning to the theories. Hands-on sessions provide opportunities for the application of knowledge." - KR

"Elysia has an ongoing relationship with students. She sees her job as making sure we successfully complete our training, and so the training process is very individual." - LD

Dates, times, and price TBD. Check back for details.

Coming Fall 2015!
Step into living your fullest potential and inspire others to do the same.

Has yoga made a difference in your life? Would you like to share the gifts you have received from your practice with others? Or are you drawn to simply go deeper into cultivating presence and awareness in all that you do?

All That Matters is proud to offer this comprehensive, inspired, and transformational yoga teacher training with senior teacher Devarshi Steven Hartman, E-RYT, who has been leading transformational yoga programs for over 30 years, along with stellar guest teachers including Grace Jull and our own Kendall Sheldon. A passage of self-awakening in the fundamentals of yoga, this program is designed to deepen and clarify your experience and knowledge of yoga while you train to become a confident, skillful, and compassionate teacher.

Pranotthan (pronounced prana-tan) means the awakening of prana and its intuitive intelligence. Compatible with all other styles and traditions of yoga, Pranotthan Yoga is rooted in the ancient Vedantic philosophy and practices of yoga, and the teachings of Swami Kripalu, whose life exemplified the path of love and compassion. Immerse yourself fully in the yogic tools of asana, pranayama, meditation, non-judgmental witness consciousness, and communion with source – and yoga will awaken within you, just as the scriptures describe. You will long to share your own experience of yoga practice with others through your new and ever-evolving teaching skills and methods.

In this training you learn how to bring awareness to movement and breath (yoga) in a way that is right for your body, your limitations, your strengths, your age, – in other words, you discover the yoga that is right for you. Yoga is for everybody, not just the young and flexible. There are students waiting for you to teach what enlivens you.
