Coffee & Cardamom
A cup of coffee can feel like an essential part of our morning routine and maybe even a necessary afternoon pick me up.
There’s a lot of information out there debating whether or not coffee is good for us. Some articles tell us that coffee possesses many wonderful health benefits while other sources claim that it can be detrimental to our health.
Regardless of which belief you’ve adopted, the truth remains that coffee is a stimulant that over time, will tax the adrenals and deplete energy levels.
If you’re aiming for a healthier relationship with coffee, try consuming it mindfully and notice how you feel. In other words, rather than drinking it out of habit, ask yourself if you really want it in this moment. Often times, our dietary choices are made from habit, rather than a real desire for what is best for us right now. What worked for us yesterday, may not serve us today.
If you are going to enjoy a cup of coffee, try adding a pinch of cardamom or nutmeg. These spices add more than just flavor. They also act as antidote to the negative effects of coffee so that you will feel energized and alert without dealing with the less desirable effects of caffeine such as disturbed sleep or anxiety.
