Book Recommendation: Learning how to live a healthy lifestyle without obsessing

With a focus on promoting an overall healthy lifestyle, yoga instructor Lynn Goodwin shows her clients how to combine mindful eating with healthy activity. As we transition into fall, Lynn gives a great reading recommendation for those looking to find their way back to healthy behavior.

"The All That Matters store is now selling one of my favorite books, The Slow Down Diet by Marc David.  Fall is the perfect time to learn or revisit healthy routines.  I love how this book provides simple, practical ways to feel your best without having to obsess about calories. Maintaining a healthy weight, positive relationship with food, and abundant energy is about so much more than what we are eating, it's about HOW we are eating and our overall lifestyle.  I think of it as the yoga of eating.  One of the best takeaways from this read, is the connection between mind, body, and spirit and how each layer of our being influences how we choose to nourish ourselves. 

David promotes a way of relating to food that is rooted in NOURISHMENT rather than deprivation.  While the content is intuitive, you may also find that you experience major shifts in how you relate to food and your body.  It's an "ah ha moment" kind of book! 
I discovered The Slow Down Diet several years ago when I initially embarked on my path to better health and I still refer back to it as a check-in.  

David's book is also a nice complement to my Living Well Workshop on October 25th.  This one-day retreat integrates the practice of yoga through diet, lifestyle, and meditation as means for mind, body, and spirit wellness."
